One of the most distinctive features of The Black Sparrow is its extraordinary wildlife. Guests regularly encounter native animals on and around the 50-acre property — particularly at dawn and dusk.

Kangaroos (Roos) Grounds at dusk Regularly spotted grazing on the property lawns at dusk — a highlight for many guests, especially families with children.
Sambar Deer Hill trek & surrounds Sambar and Spotted deer are regular visitors in the mornings and evenings. Very high chance of sighting on the private hill trek. Hunting on the property is strictly forbidden.
Koalas Bush surrounds Occasional sightings in the property’s eucalyptus trees.
King Parrots Property grounds Striking native parrots that may eat from your hands if you are patient.
Black Cockatoos Property & surrounds Rare and iconic Australian birds frequently sighted around the property.
Kookaburras Chalet decks Often perch within metres of guests on the chalet deck rails. A favourite with visitors.
Barking Owl Heard at night Produces a loud wailing cry sometimes called the "screaming-woman bird". Commonly heard on the property at night — do not be alarmed.
Farm animals Property grounds Alpacas, horses, and Persian sheep are resident on the property for guests to enjoy.
