Wombat in the Pines - heading home

Your new hosts, Simon and Helen

Simon and Helen, new owners and managers

Would like to thank Christine and Poul

Previous owners and managers

For all their help in transitioning us into The Black Sparrow that they have developed magnificently over a number of years.

We love this area and hope we can help share its many treasures with all those that venture out this way.

Cabins close to Lake Eildon, Mt Buller, and the High Country

Affordable secluded and family-friendly accommodation in the Howqua Valley, backing onto the Great Dividing Range and next to Lake Eildon. There are four x 2 bedroom cottages, three x 1 bedroom chalets and a boutique function centre for private functions and small wedding parties.

The Black Sparrow offers accommodation options for couples, families, and groups. Four well-appointed two bedroom cottages  nestled in a bush setting of majestic gums and native trees. The cottages are in close proximity to the recreation areas allowing families and children easy access to the various activities the property has to offer. Three fully self contained 1 bedroom chalets, designed as romantic retreats for couples, situated higher on the property, separate from the cottage accommodation to provide seclusion, but not too far from the activities available on site.

Outside, there is a tennis court with basketball rings, outdoor pool, giant garden chess, campfire & springfree trampoline. The Black Sparrow is a leisurely 2.5 hours drive from Melbourne and offers stunning views of Lake Eildon with close proximity to the townships of Mansfield and Jamieson. It's a great accommodation location for people who wish to visit or experience adventure in the area throughout the year.

In the warmer months guests interested in water sport activities  can enjoy staying at a unique property while fishing, water skiing or boating on Lake Eildon. The Black Sparrow is situated 30 minutes from the base of the Mt Buller and Mt Stirling, where you can have affordable quality off-mountain accommodation whether you're hitting the ski resorts in winter, or the trails in the summer, whatever your mode of transport.

Each cabin is beautifully presented with a well equipped kitchen, bathroom, spacious living, and private outdoor deck with BBQ. With a limited number of cabins, no camping or caravans, and 50 acres to spread out on, there is plenty of room for everyone.
